Note: It is an interesting fact that through this announcement we realised that Francis York McMahon knew J W J Hardman (now his brother in law) who married General Sir Thomas McMahon's daughter Frances Mary McMahon in 1888.

1896: Frederick was promoted to a Captain in the 1st Royal Dragoons.

1897: On July 10th 1897, it was recorded in the New York Times that Francis Yorke McMahon committed suicide. It interesting to suppose that Thomas McMahon named his son after the famous General Sir James Yorke Scarlett who was general of the 5th Dragoon Guards and was well known for his Crimea war activities.
